Deputy Warden Sam Houston has served in this capacity for the Mobile County Metro Jail since 2012. Deputy Warden Houston graduated from the University of South Alabama in 1978 with a degree in Criminal Justice Administration. Work experience includes a cumulative total of nine years with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, ten years with the Mobile Police Department, twenty-two years as a Special Agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration, and one year as a Senior Advisor to the Afghan Counter-Narcotics Police Training Unit. Deputy Warden Houston has served in numerous roles throughout his career in law enforcement including jail detention, training, investigations, and foreign diplomatic assignments. He has been married for thirty-one years and is the father of two children.
